Review of Shamitabh and Badlapur

Saw two movies #Shamitabh And #Badlapur from two of the few "different" directors operating in the Hindi Film Industry
While #Balki in #Shamitabh starts with good intentions the film fails for various reasons....After a commendable first half (I really enjoyed the craftiness till Dhanush's story is told)...Even though the tribute to the Baritone of Mr. Bachchan is commendable...the film gets cheeky in order to appear massy (was njoying the piddly song in promos but after watching the "toilet" interpretation out of my playlist) and the worst part is the "lifeboy" sequence of the film...After a sensible #Cheenikum (with fabulous story and amazing Tabu) and an outstanding  #Paa ...Shamitabh is a let down for me....And the biggest disappointment is Akshara hassan (the creepy hairstyle, lack of details (Amitabh is a drunkard with unclean face but he has a creased pant and spotlessly clean coat that too white (not cool) and Blank acting.....Shruti u r much better)....
The Clash Between egos could have formed the central theme but the  is encroached and run over by Cheeky lines, terrible Akshara and a not so good story......#Abhimaan is a lot better if we really have to see Clash of Egos and How it Pans out.......The end too predictable.....Dhanush is great in the role but he's too fragile to carry the film on his own......Sigh!!

While With #Badlapur  #SreedharRaghavan has maintained the same streak as #Ekhasinathi (what a movie).....Badlapur is like a complex poem which doesn't have a polished narrative but which touches you and stays with you.......Performances par excellence #Varun Dhawan's (coming of age performance), #nawazuddin is really getting strong playing such roles (I didn't like his performance as there was nothing new that he was doing...same old same old)....#RadhikaApte very good, #Divyadutta and #humaquereshi wasted....and who was the partner oh yes #vinaypathak ...#yami did a far better job than him....But the film belongs to #varun....the constant melancholy in his eyes and his unpredictive moves (great).....The film could have done with a better ending though.....The artistic approach in real life settings made the film so belivable.....Kudos to Raghavan.....Seeing such movies one still has hopes for Hindi cinema.....
