Study looks at the genetic profile of highly intelligent individuals

In a study accepted in Molecular Psychiatry 1,409 high-intelligence individuals mostly of white ethnicity ( IQ > 170) were subjected to exome genotyping and compared to controls (n = 3253) with IQ < 70.
The researchers identified that rare allele was less frequently observed in the high intelligence group indicating that rare functional alleles are more often detrimental than beneficial to intelligence.
