Signs of alien life: Too far fetched?

Don't be alarmed or super excited by the title. Titles are meant to be such :)!!

This is a far fetched conclusion and one of many derived by a recent observation by NASA's  Kepler telescope of a distant star named KIC8462852 (For more details on how stars are named refer to http://www.stellar-database.com/naming.html).
Scientist observed that KIC 8462852 underwent irregularly shaped aperiodic dips in the flux down to below 20 percent the change in signal has been observed for a period of 4 years, negating any instrumental errors.

These cause these dips in the energy the object in front of the star must be very huge in size. Scientist in their paper look at several theories and present a systematic assessment of each of them. The possibilities are:

Possibility 1. The blockage can be due to some circumstellar disk of dust.
Contentions: No infrared signature associated with this kind of disk recorded.
The star is a mature F-type  star (1.5 times of the Sun), the circumstellar disk usually surrounds young stars.

Possibility 2: Debris from a planetary collision (But they have no data to suggest that the collision happened.)
Possibility 3: Intervening clump of exocomets (The favored explanation by the researchers)

Possibility 4 (A possibility made out of a overzealous mind): A mega-structure built by alien life form? (THE LEAST FAVORED, BUT MOST EXCITING!!)
We have for long questioned that are we alone or are there other planets with life. We must remember that we are just one planet in our galaxy which has hundreds of billions of planets and we have billions of galaxy in the Universe, so it is very unlikely that we are the only planet with life. This idea is enshrined in the FERMI PARADOX.

So the alien civilization theory would say it is a DYSON SPHERE, a spherical object build to completely surround a star (in theory) to harness energy from it. Too far fetched...good enough for me!!
